Working at the MFEA

Any job vacancy at the MFEA (all careers) is published on the Govjobs.lu website. Individuals with an interest in working for the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs (MFEA) are therefore invited to check the website regularly, where they will be guided through the application submission procedure.
The job offers on Govjobs are all posted in French only.

In terms of recruitment, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs does not consider unsolicited applications.

 

Internship at the Permanent Representation of Luxembourg to the European Union

Work environment:

The intern will be introduced to the daily work of the Permanent Representation of Luxembourg to the European Union.
He/She will work on political topics and policies in the framework of Coreper 2 or Coreper 1, within a team of diplomats and national experts who deal with negotiations in the Council of the EU.

Missions:

The intern will assist the Permanent Representation’s services in the following tasks:

  • preparation of meetings,
  • notetaking during meetings and writing of minutes,
  • research and preparation of notes and reports.

Description:

The intern will be given an introduction to the practical functioning of the European institutions, the Permanent Representation as well as the diplomatic network.
The internship will allow him/her to gain a good knowledge of the daily operations of the Council of the EU and other EU institutions. 

Profile :

Candidates need to have completed an undergraduate university degree.
They should have a basic understanding of the European institutions and procedures.
They should speak and write French and English fluently (C1 level). Meetings take place in English and French, minutes, notes and reports will be written in French.
The Internship will last from 3 to 6 months.
The internship is not paid.

Internship at the Representation of Luxembourg to the Political and Security Committee (PSC)

Work environment:

The intern will learn about the daily work of the Representation of Luxembourg to the Political and Security Commitee (PSC).
This work is related to the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), within the team of Luxembourgish diplomats who work within the PSC and the CIVCOM (Committee for Civilian Aspects of Crisis Management) and PMG (Politico-military Group) working parties.

Missions:

  • The intern will assist diplomats during meetings of various working party meetings within the EU Council.
  • She/He will support diplomats with the preparation and reporting of these meetings.
  • She/He will attend negotiations on conclusions of the Foreign Affairs Council.
  • She/He will attend thematic seminars in the CFSP field. 

Description:

The internship will allow a student who intends to specialize in European and international relations as well as in defense topics, to acquire an excellent knowledge of the daily functioning of the EU Council, and in particular of the negotiations on matters related to CFSP/CSDP. 

Profil :

Candidates need to have completed an undergraduate university degree.
Perfect knowledge of French and English (C1 level). (Meetings take place in English and French, while minutes, notes and reports will be written in French).
Duration of the internship will range between 3 and 6 months.
The internship is not paid.
