Internship at the Permanent Representation of Luxembourg to the European Union
 

General information:

Duration: 3 to 6 months
Dates: September 2026 to February 2027
Education: 3rd year of higher education or Master-level

Description:

Introduction to the day-to-day work of the Permanent Representation of Luxembourg to the European Union, among a team of diplomats and national experts who deal with negotiations in the Council of the EU in the framework of Coreper I and II.

In addition to the experience at the Permanent Representation, the internship will enable students to acquire a good understanding of the day-to-day functioning of the Council of the EU and other EU institutions.

Missions:

  • Accompany members of the Permanent Representation to various meetings of Council preparatory bodies;
  • Take notes during meetings and contribute to reports;
  • Assist in the preparation of meetings;
  • Conduct research projects.

Profile:

Good knowledge of European structures and procedures.
Perfect knowledge of French and English (C1), as meetings take place in English and French.

Internship at the Representation of Luxembourg to the Political and Security Committee (PSC)

Work environment:

The intern will learn about the daily work of the Representation of Luxembourg to the Political and Security Commitee (PSC).
This work is related to the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), within the team of Luxembourgish diplomats who work within the PSC and the CIVCOM (Committee for Civilian Aspects of Crisis Management) and PMG (Politico-military Group) working parties.

Missions:

  • The intern will assist diplomats during meetings of various working party meetings within the EU Council.
  • She/He will support diplomats with the preparation and reporting of these meetings.
  • She/He will attend negotiations on conclusions of the Foreign Affairs Council.
  • She/He will attend thematic seminars in the CFSP field. 

Description:

The internship will allow a student who intends to specialize in European and international relations as well as in defense topics, to acquire an excellent knowledge of the daily functioning of the EU Council, and in particular of the negotiations on matters related to CFSP/CSDP. 

Profil :

Candidates need to have completed an undergraduate university degree.
Perfect knowledge of French and English (C1 level). (Meetings take place in English and French, while minutes, notes and reports will be written in French).
Duration of the internship will range between 4 and 6 months.
The internship is paid.
